These units support patients preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions, giving you the opportunity to build a strong foundation in diverse clinical skills. While you’ll have a home unit, we believe in cross‑training to broaden your expertise and confidence in caring for patients with varying conditions, comorbidities, and procedures.

- Deliver patient‑centered care using the nursing process.
- Maintain professional accountability for assigned patients.
- Evaluate care provided by other direct caregivers.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Uphold patient rights and confidentiality.
- Perform duties in alignment with our mission, values, and Mercy service standards.
- Patient Population: Higher acuity cardiac and respiratory
- Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratio: 4:1 or 5:1
- UAP‑to‑Patient Ratio: 9:1
- Unit Size: 32 beds
- Environment: Fast‑paced, high‑energy; ideal for nurses pursuing ICU or ER careers
