**** POSITION OVERVIEW
** The Director of Mechanical Engineering will lead and oversee the company’s mechanical engineering team. This role is responsible for driving innovation, ensuring operational excellence, and aligning engineering initiatives with the company's business objectives. The Director of Mechanical Engineering will provide leadership, vision, and direction for their team, ensuring that our custom automation solutions and products meet the highest quality standard sand customer expectations.
** TOP 5 RESPONSIBILITIES
**** 1. Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable
** Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and accountability for the mechanical engineering team.

Establish clear goals and performance expectations for direct reports.

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
** 2. Execute Engineering Strategy
** Develop and implement strategies that align with corporate goals and drive engineering innovation and efficiency.

Define and drive the engineering roadmap in collaboration with leadership.

Ensure alignment of mechanical engineering initiatives with procurement and operations teams.

Identify and implement emerging technologies to maintain a competitive advantage.
** 3. Engineering Excellence
** Ensure high-quality design, development, and execution of both custom automation and standard product offerings.

Optimize engineering workflows, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project execution and delivery.

Establish best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
** 4. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Teamwork
** Foster strong collaboration between engineering, project management, procurement, applications and sales to drive successful outcomes.

Facilitate seamless communication between departments to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Encourage knowledge sharing and cross-disciplinary problem-solving.

Support the Sales and Applications team in technical discussions and customer engagements.
** 5. Departmental Budget and Labor Efficiency
** Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to meet project requirements.

Implement strategies to improve labor efficiency, minimize costs, and maximize productivity within the mechanical engineering department.
** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
*** Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field);
Master’s degree preferred.
* 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably in automation, robotics, or industrial manufacturing.
* Strong track record of leading engineering teams in the development of automation solutions and products.
* Proven ability to manage large-scale projects, drive process improvements, and optimize cross-functional collaboration.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and engineering resources.
* Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality assurance processes.
* Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
