Electrical Design Engineer – Braun Ambulances

Summary of Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, design and engineer 12v DC and 125v AC electrical systems for mobile applications.
- Develop comprehensive multiplexed electrical systems using computer programming and electrical schematic drafting software.
- Integrate electrical systems across multiple chassis platforms.
- Design new electrical harnesses for manufacturability, installation, and cost objectives.
- Research and develop new technologies to provide reliable and innovative solutions for mobile applications.
- Develop and lead the design and installation of complex mobile communication systems including telemetry, GPS, cellular data modems, UHF and VHF radio systems.
- Review methods, document processes, develop prints and update changes for production and customer service personnel for proper installation and vehicle maintenance.
- Review vehicle work orders, create and generate updated electrical schematic packages and bill of materials for manufacturing to the customer’s specifications in a timely manner.
- Provide training to production personnel, service technicians and customers both on- and off-site.
Summary of Activities
- Create electrical schematics and BOMs for each vehicle work order; production and remount.
- Read and interpret vehicle sales orders to translate into electrical schematics and BOMs; update schematics and BOMs for options and products.
- Gather technical data to specify proper integration of products into truck design.
- Provide support for long-lead components for BOM and supply chain management.
- Provide electrical support for R&D initiatives; support new production integration into truck designs.
- Document installation processes and methods; update Braun process documentation as needed.
- Design multiplexed electrical systems and configure software.
- Research and design for chassis model year changes and proper module-to-chassis electrical integration.
- Train personnel on program downloads to nodes and vistas; provide ad hoc training to manufacturing electrical analysts.
- Interact with chassis manufacturers to meet electrical system needs; find solutions for customer requests involving chassis systems.
- Provide on-site hands-on training in a classroom setting for electrical applications, processes and procedures; participate in dealer training by Customer Care Organization.
- Lead product improvement teams and continuous improvement projects as needed.
- Assist production personnel with troubleshooting and use root-cause techniques.
- Develop operator manuals and training guides; support documentation for Customer Care.
- Provide technical support and engineering for services and warranty needs.
- Provide design engineering support for Customer Care work orders or field questions.
Technical Skills / Competencies (Technical Knowledge, Education And Experience)
- Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent working experience
- Strong knowledge and three years of experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and electrical tools
- Two years of electrical CAD drawing experience
- Sound knowledge of electrical theory and design criteria
