* Job Summary:

** The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions. This individual will ensure the integrity of financial data, support strategic decision-making, and lead the finance team in a growing transportation and logistics environment.

* Key Responsibilities:

**** Accounting & Financial Reporting**·        
** Oversee
* * daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.·        
** Prepare
* * timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.·        
** Reconcile
* * bank statements, credit lines, fuel cards, and other financial instruments.·        
** Maintain
* * and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.·        
** Serve
* * as the primary backup for payroll processing and accounts payable/receivable functions to ensure continuity of operations during staff absence or turnover.·        
** Understand
* * and stay current with accounting regulations and industry standards to ensure that the organization is compliant with all financial reporting requirements.·        
** Continuously
* * seek opportunities for professional development in accounting and finance.
** Budgeting & Forecasting**·        
** Lead
* * the annual budgeting process and regular forecasting cycles.·        
** Analyze
* * financial performance against forecasts and report on variances.·        
** Provide
* * cost analysis, trend reporting, and profitability insights by customer, lane, or load.
** Compliance & Audits**·        
** Ensure
* * compliance with federal, state, and local financial requirements and tax filings.·        
** Coordinate
* * with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.·        
** Monitor
* * and manage DOT, IFTA, and other transportation-specific compliance filings.
** Cash Flow & Asset Management**·        
** Manage
* * cash flow, including receivables collection and vendor payments.·        
** Oversee
* * capital expenditure tracking and depreciation schedules for fleet assets.·        
** Collaborate
* * with operations to evaluate lease vs. buy decisions and fuel cost controls.
** Team Leadership & Systems Management**·        
** Supervise
* * and develop accounting staff and support cross-department collaboration.·        
** Optimize
* * accounting systems and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency.·        
** Act
* * as the finance liaison for technology platforms including TMS (Transportation Management System), ELDs, and accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Sage Intacct).·        
** Collaborate
* * with other departments and team members to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.·        
** Support
* * all safety procedures and regulations in the trucking industry, promoting a culture of safety and escalating concerns when necessary·        
** Availability
* * as/if/when needed, for after-hours, weekends, and holidays to support the accounting department to ensure positive outcomes for the team.·        
** Other

* Qualifications:

** Education**:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).·        
** Experience
* * of progressive accounting experience, preferably in transportation or logistics.·        
** Strong
* * understanding of trucking industry practices, fuel surcharge programs, and freight billing, preferred.·        
** Advanced*
* ** Proficiency
* * in accounting software and in Quick Books, Microsoft, Excel, and Google Sheets; experience with TMS integration is a plus.·
