Plant Manager

The Plant Manager is responsible for directing day‑to‑day manufacturing operations with P&L responsibility—including production, scheduling, engineering, maintenance, purchasing, and logistics. The role adheres to local laws and regulations and follows production and company objectives, coordinating all operating departments to ensure the facility operates within the long‑term strategic plan and budget.

• Initiates and directs the development of safety practices and procedures and assumes ultimate responsibility for plant housekeeping and safety.
• Demonstrates leadership and judgment consistent with company philosophy, goals and objectives.
• Interprets and applies company policies and procedures, ensuring that established policies, rules, regulations and procedures are followed.
• Monitors actual versus planned performance of manufacturing departments; pursues and implements remedies to problems, assuming ultimate responsibility for the quality of product and the workplace.
• Plans and coordinates work, trains, motivates, monitors, and evaluates performance of subordinate managers/supervisors; counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary.
• Responsible for budgets and business planning for the facility and for establishing and meeting department goals and objectives.
• Collaborates with senior management, other managers, and supervisors to develop, implement and execute budget and business plans.
• Directs production activities to meet sales objectives at maximum efficiency and minimum cost.
• Works closely with and seeks counsel of staff and line management in accomplishing all plant objectives.
• Responsible for environmental programs and associated reporting.
• Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
• Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the division.

• Ability to lead, motivate, select, train and instruct personnel.
• Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of production/extrusion process and manufacturing capabilities.
• Strong decision‑making skills, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.
• Computer skills required for multiple graphs, reports, charts, and spreadsheets.
•  Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering (preferred) and 15 years’ industry experience; at least 10 years of senior supervisory experience exposed to all areas of plant operations, or equivalent education and experience.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and a background with successful implementation of lean principles.
