POSITION SUMMARY
:
The Accountant, Retail is responsible in assisting with the preparation of monthly financial statements, monitoring of the annual budget and forecasting. This role will also be responsible for providing recommendations and guidance on implementing policies, procedures and best practices and other duties as outlined below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, maintain monthly balance sheet and profit & loss reconciliations, and monitor the budget with monthly variance analysis and forecastingAssist Director of Retail in preparing the annual budget and quarterly forecast and cost benefit analysis for new retail projectsPrepare year end audit working papersPrepare and distribute weekly sales flash report to Management and Retail Operations teamReconcile month end inventory balances, analyzing discrepancies between Yellow Dog and D365 accounting system and support Yellow Dog & Square POS maintenanceAssist and supervise inventory counts including periodic cycle spot countsReconcile internal billings and ensure appropriate departmental approvals and coding are in placeEnsure vendor invoices are processed on a timely basis and match to receiving reports, follow-up on discrepanciesPrepare monthly PST, With-holding tax remittancesWork main concert nights to ensure compliance with inventory and payment processing controlsUpdate current policies, procedures, systems and best practices for the retail operations teamDocument and monitor compliance of internal controls and procedure manualsREQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 3 years of general accounting experience, with exposure to preparing financial statements and account analysis.Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Accounting or BusinessPreference given to candidates with retail industry experience or enrolment in the CPA programStrong working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and accounting systemsStrong work ethic, loyalty, and dedicationExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate financial results to various members of the Leadership TeamSelf-starter with effective organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlinesStrong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze dataMust be able to work evenings and weekends as requiredAble to work full-time in the officeBENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE TO HAVE:
