Crowe Mac Kay LLP is excited to grow our team and is currently searching for an Accountant – Public Company Audit Group (Pubco) opportunity in Vancouver. This position is a full-time (1950 annual hours), permanent position. The successful candidate will report to the Pubco Partners and managers. You will help to deliver innovative solutions to today's complex business issues.
- Preparation and review of audit, review and tax engagements.
- Comprehend financial statements and corresponding notes.
- Supervise and lead engagement teams.
- Verify taxes owed and prepare corporate tax returns (and other tax compliance slips) ensuring compliance with government standards.
- Apply knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Familiarity with Canadian Auditing Standards and public company audits.
- Plan pubco audits, including client acceptance and continuous, risk assessments, reporting packages to the audit committee, time budget and client communications.
- Analyze financial status of issuers, including assessing accounts on the balance sheet, income statements, cash flow statements and related notes.
- Review documents from third-party sources for audit purposes.
- Provide support to clients and respond to questions and queries in a timely fashion.
- Vouch and assess relevance of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, cash payments, capital asset additions, accounts payable and other liabilities, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, inventory, mineral properties, equity accounts, and income taxes.
- Performance journal entry testing, summarize board meeting minutes and resolutions.
- Review related party schedules and obtain confirmations.
- Prepare completion checklists and letters.
- Assess internal control design and implementation effectiveness and determine if test of control is warranted. Make recommendations to clients to improve control deficiencies.
- In conjunction with and under the supervision of managers and partners, responsible for completion of all aspects of an engagement.
- Collaborate with client team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality, and deadlines.
- Mentorship of junior team members, whether as part of a specific engagement team or as a resource within the office.
- Build effective working relationships with clients and actively participate in business development through community involvement.
- Professional CPA designation, or 2025 CFE writer
- 2-4 years of relevant public accounting experience
- 2+ years public company audit experience
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a must
- Experience working with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Taxprep, Quickbooks and Sage 50 Accounting considered an asset

- Annual salary of $75,000 based on 1950 annual hours
