About the Role
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Co‑op will assist the Accounting team with processing accounts payable, month‑end reconciliations, and updating company records.
This role is a 4‑month contract from September to December, fully on‑site based at our Downtown Vancouver studio.
Responsibilities- Process accounts payable including communicating with external and internal business partners, validating, processing, and recording invoices.
- Set up vendors in the systems.
- Review internal expense reports along with corporate credit card reconciliations.
- Record bank transactions and apply payment to invoices.
- Prepare intercompany journal entries related to the recording of invoices.
- Assist with the preparation of month‑end journal entries and account reconciliations including cash and fixed assets.
- Prepare and update process documentation to ensure that accounting policies and internal procedures are memorialised in writing.
- Pull sample requests for auditors.
- Other ad‑hoc tasks and/or projects as opportunities arise.
- Enrolled in a post‑secondary institution seeking a Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Completion of fundamental accounting courses.
- Pursuing a CPA designation is an asset but not required.
- Practical general accounting experience in a professional or volunteer setting.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong communication, both written and verbal.
- Solid proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel) and Google Workspace/G‑Suite.
- Proven track record of being self‑directed with exceptional organisation and research skills.
- Flexible and willing to go that extra mile to gain more knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrate capacity to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities while remaining calm and controlled.
