Project Accountant
Vancouver, BC | Full-time | In-office to start | $60,000-$75,000

Burke Recruiting is working on a search for a well-established Vancouver-based professional services firm with a long-standing reputation in its industry.

This is a great opportunity for a developing accountant or CPA student who wants to build strong project accounting, billing, systems, and broader accounting experience within a stable, professional, and supportive environment.

This is not a heavy construction-style project accounting role. The work is more focused on project setup, project billing, invoicing, AR, billing milestones, project documentation, systems, and working closely with project leaders and the finance team.

Over time, this role is designed to grow into a more senior accounting position with increased responsibility.

• Set up, update, and maintain projects in internal systems
• Monitor project hours, budgets, billing milestones, and project information
• Prepare and process client invoices
• Track project-related accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding items
• Work closely with project managers, project directors, and internal finance
• Maintain accurate project documentation
• Support month-end close, reconciliations, and project‑related reporting
• Assist with process improvements, systems improvements, and data accuracy
• Respond to day-to-day project, billing, and documentation inquiries

• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
• CPA enrollment preferred
• Experience in engineering, architecture, consulting, legal, accounting, or another professional services environment would be ideal
• Strong Excel and Outlook skills
• Experience with ERP system would be an asset
• Familiarity with project‑based environments would be an asset
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Clear, professional communication skills
• Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Collaborative, accountable, proactive, and eager to learn

• A CPA student looking for mentorship and long‑term growth
• An intermediate accountant who wants exposure to project accounting and broader accounting work
• Someone with billing, AR, project administration, or professional services accounting experience
• Someone who enjoys systems, details, communication, and working with smart internal teams

Salary range is expected to $60,000-$75,000
, depending on experience.
