The Senior Accountant, Inventory & Cost Management plays a critical role in financial reporting and operational accounting, with a focus on inventory and cost accounting and analysis in a dynamic environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory valuation, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting financial reporting processes. The position also partners cross-functionally to improve inventory processes, ERP systems, and revenue-related inventory activities.
Success in this role requires curiosity, sound professional judgment and a strong understanding of how operational activities translate into financial performance. The successful candidate will not only ensure inventory and COGS are accurately accounted for but will also provide meaningful analysis and insights to support business decisions.
What you will do:- Monthly Close Process:
Collaborate and complete monthly, quarterly and year-end close procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting, ensuring best practice and efficiency without compromising quality. The Monthly close process includes the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, analytics and working papers to achieve and prepare the financial results. - Financial Analysis:
Complete general ledger reconciliations and maintain balance sheet reconciliation files. Update, reconcile and complete management analytical reports and schedules. Complete monthly Intercompany reconciliations and month end foreign exchange adjustments. - Statutory & Regulatory Compliance:
Contribute to the year-end audit efforts, including close collaboration with external auditors, and assist with the production of year end statutory accounts. - Technical Accounting:
Maintain the chart of accounts, an orderly accounting filing system, and a system of controls over accounting transactions, ensuring best practices and efficiency without compromising quality. Ensure accounting practices align with accounting assertions, comply with company policies, and are in accordance with Accounting Standards. - Adhere to internal control processes to ensure compliance with accounting policies and mitigate financial risks. Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Identify ad hoc accounting issues and improvements as they occur and recommend solutions.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
- Support Finance team members as needed e.g.during periods of sickness or holiday
- Cost of Goods Sold:
