Dueck Auto Group is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to manage complex payroll processing, benefits administration, reporting, compliance, and payroll process improvement. Reporting to the Payroll Manager and CFO, this role requires strong technical payroll knowledge, analytical skills, and experience working with multiple compensation structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process complex semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls across multiple locations and employee groups, including various compensation structures, including salary, hourly, commission, flat-rate/technician pay, bonuses, incentives, allowances, and advances
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, vacation, adjustments, and final pay
  • Process ROEs and support year-end activities, including T4s and payroll reconciliations
  • Prepare and reconcile CRA and WorkSafeBC remittances and reporting
  • Ensure payroll practices comply with CRA requirements, BC Employment Standards, WorkSafeBC requirements, and company policies
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay issues
  • Administer benefit enrolments, changes, terminations, deductions, and invoice reconciliation
  • Prepare and analyze payroll, labour cost, compensation, and other management reports
  • Support payroll and general ledger reconciliations and internal or external audits
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and modernize payroll processes and systems
  • Collaborate with Payroll Manager and the Finance team on updating and implementing payroll procedures, controls, documentation, and reporting tools
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting payroll and benefits
  • Act as a payroll resource to Payroll, Finance, Human Resources, managers, and employees
Skills & Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of progressive payroll and benefits experience, including complex payroll processing
  • Experience processing multiple pay types, including commission, flat-rate, salary, and hourly compensation
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll practices, CRA requirements, BC Employment Standards, and WorkSafeBC requirements
  • Experience with payroll remittances, reconciliations, ROEs, year-end processing, taxable benefits, and final pay
  • Strong payroll reporting and analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with payroll data and reconciliations
  • Demonstrated ability to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiencies
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience with Payworks or a comparable payroll system is required
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation is preferred
  • Automotive dealership or other complex, multi-location payroll experience is a strong asset
Logistical Requirements

This is a full-time position Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with 30 minutes for lunch. On occasion, you may be required to work extended hours in order to meet deadlines based on the needs of the business.
