Smythe LLP isseekinga motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing Private Company Group. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA or CPA student who enjoys working directly with private company clients, developing technical expertise, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team.
This role is based in our Vancouver office, with the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment following the completion of the probationary period.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Accountant, you will work closely with Managers, Senior Managers, Partners, and clients to deliver Assurance, Advisory, and Tax services to privately held businesses across a wide range of industries. You will take ownership of client engagements, develop meaningful client relationships, and playan important rolein supporting and mentoring junior team members.

In this role, you will:
- Prepare and review compilation engagements, review engagements, and working paper files for private company clients
- Prepare corporate,partnership returns,persona land trust income tax returns,and related tax compliance filings
- Assist clients with accounting, financial reporting, and business advisory matters
- Build andmaintainstrong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional client service
- Identify issues, provide practical solutions, and elevate complex matters to Managers and Partners as appropriate
- Manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities while meeting deadlines andmaintainingquality standards
- Mentor and support Accountants and junior team members through coaching, technical guidance, and file reviews
- Collaborate with Managers and Partners to deliver high-quality client service and contribute to engagement success
- Stay current with accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry developments
What You Bring
- CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)
- Minimum 3–5 years of public practice experience, preferably serving private company clients
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, financial statement preparation, and tax compliance
- Experience preparing and reviewing compilation sand review engagement files
- Proficiency preparing corporate and personal income tax returns
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted client relationships
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment
- A collaborative, client-focused, and professional approach

- Ability to work from our Vancouver office, with a hybrid schedule available following probation
