The Cataloguing & Acquisitions Assistant works closely with the Head of Xwi7xwa Library and the UBC Library teams. This position focuses on improving catalogue records, processing materials, and developing the Indigenous thesaurus. Additionally, the assistant provides public services at the Information Desk, checking out materials, and assisting patrons with any queries.
Key Responsibilities:
• Enhance and maintain catalogue records
• Oversee collection materials relocation processes
• Process new acquisitions and resolve related issues
• Assist patrons via the Information Desk
• Participate in Indigenous community-oriented projects
Requirements:
• High School diploma and Library Technician diploma
• Minimum four years of related experience
• Familiarity with MARC coding and cataloguing
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 15 kgs of materials
This role combines cataloguing expertise with community engagement, supporting the vital work of UBC Library.
