Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Serves as a subject matter expert in a specific field:
- Provides guidance, support, and assistance to internal and external team members in developing, administering, or remediating a function within RES.
- Responds to routine complex problems, enhancements requiring analysis, business process review, and issues which are escalated.
- Applies and adheres to College and RES policies, procedures, and processes, and standards.
- Recommends and defers discretion of exceptional decision making to a superior, especially in cases involving policy, precedence or impacts multiple layers or departments.
- Utilizes a student information system or other system to verify, enter, access, retrieve, store, scan, and maintain information.
- Organizes and disseminates information to ensure coordination amongst internal and external team members.
- Produces routine or complex, and ad hoc reports and analysis, as required.
- Trains colleagues, as required.
2. Supports the development of process that enhance a particular RES function, enhanced services, or projects within designated unit:
- Works collaboratively with RES team and internal support services and external stakeholders in executing business process redesign projects, enhancements, or change initiatives.
- Provides input and subject matter expertise during design and implementation stages. May recommend changes to procedures or guidelines.
- Under the direction of a supervisor, executes change in conjunction with RES Supervisors, management, IT, and other support services. May participate in the development, deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of system upgrades.
- Maintains and updates the student information system for the designated unit or function.
3. Provides superior customer service to prospective and current students, staff, and external parties:
- May perform cashiering duties according to established policy or procedures. (e.g. transcripts, application fees, etc).
- Manages a high volume of work, prioritizing tasks and requests from various sources.
4. Provides back-up to colleagues in similar positions in other RES units.
5. Performs other related work as required or assigned
Qualifications
Required:
Education
- Successful completion of a two-year diploma or an associate's degree in a related discipline.
- Two (2) years of related experience in the business area of expertise, preferably in a Registrar's Office.
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with an integrated student record system (e.g. Banner).
- Knowledge of post-secondary policy and procedures, programs and registrarial processes.
- Knowledge of the BC post-secondary system.

- Ability to multitask and work with frequent interruptions, while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Ability to investigate and listen in order to solve problems and provide solutions.

- Ability to support RES team in change management which may include enhancing activities that drive change in collaboration with the change team.
- Ability to interpret and apply College, government, and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Ability to exercise judgement, tact and discretion.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Intermediate level in the use of standard computer applications including word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), presentation (Power Point), and email.
