What you will be doing:
Problem Discovery and Analysis

Lead discovery workshops and interviews with leadership and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to deeply understand and document the challenges and opportunities within current billing processes.

Ask insightful questions to distinguish stated wants from underlying business needs, ensuring the core problem is accurately defined.

Analyze and map current-state (as-is) business processes, identifying key pain points, inefficiencies, and strategic gaps.

Stakeholder Analysis and Alignment

Conduct comprehensive stakeholder analysis to identify key players and user groups, developing personas to champion a human-centered approach.

Act as the central communication liaison, ensuring all stakeholders have a shared understanding of the problem space and the goals of the discovery phase.

Scope Definition and Prioritization

Facilitate sessions with product and technical leadership to translate business needs into a clear, signed-off scope document.

Guide stakeholders through prioritization activities to define a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for the project's first phase.

Clearly document and articulate scope decisions, assumptions, constraints, and out-of-scope items.

Requirements Articulation

Collaborate with solution architects to create a high-level, system-agnostic future-state (to-be) solution blueprint.

Translate the defined MVP scope into a well-defined, prioritized backlog of high-level user stories and epics, ready for a future development phase.

Produce clear, concise documentation (process maps, personas, user stories) that creates a solid foundation for the project.

What you must have:

Proven experience as a Business Analyst leading the discovery, scoping, or "Phase 0" of large-scale business system projects.

Exceptional facilitation and interviewing skills, with a demonstrated ability to guide senior stakeholders toward consensus and control conversations to maintain focus on the problem space.

Strong analytical skills, with an ability to deconstruct complex issues and create clarity from ambiguity.

Experience with system-agnostic thinking, defining business processes and requirements before considering specific technology solutions (e.g., Salesforce, Workday, Service Now).

A foundational understanding of accounting and billing principles (e.g., general ledger, invoicing, accounts receivable) is essential.

Must be a fast learner, capable of quickly grasping new business domains and technical landscapes.

Experience working in a large, decentralized organization (e.g., higher education, government, healthcare) is highly desirable.
