About the Opportunity

People in these positions operate at the working level and serve as a key link between their own department and internal and/or external work units. These roles coordinate and align activities involving multiple people, processes, or components, bringing them together to achieve defined outcomes. Positions may contribute to planning but typically do not hold final decision‑making authority. Employees integrate information from various sources and provide clarification and guidance on processes, policies, and procedures.

They act as a central point of information and may serve as a spokesperson for coordinated activities. Work is typically carried out through influence rather than formal authority. In addition to coordination responsibilities, positions include administrative and communication duties and may perform lead‑hand or limited supervisory functions. Positions may also participate as part of a department’s leadership team. As the work of this position involves primarily interacting and liaising with Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) students and Indigenous community groups and individuals, we encourage those with lived experience as an Indigenous person to apply on this opportunity.

Please include in your cover letter information about your lived experience as an Indigenous person, or related experience working with Indigenous people. Reporting directly to the Manager of Nîsôhkamâtotân Programs and Services, this position is a member of both the Nîsôhkamâtotân Centre and the Student Recruitment team. The Indigenous Recruitment Specialist works closely with the members of both teams to support NAIT’s Indigenous enrolment, and diversity and inclusion objectives.

The position is guided by NAIT’s Indigenous student recruitment strategy and NAIT’s Indigenous strategy, “Connecting the Four Directions.”
