This Applied Scientist role focuses on Amazon Tax Platform Services, which calculates sales tax and VAT for Amazon sales worldwide. You will create models for the catalogue’s tax classification challenges, work with high-volume data, and support accurate, rapid calculations. The work includes reasoning through complex systems and changing tax legislation.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead machine learning development for tax classification
- Build scalable models using large language models
- Predict human accuracy on specific classification tasks
- Identify causal determinants from systems and legislative changes
- Innovate tax classification methods for global customers
- Experience building business application models for three-plus years
- PhD or master’s degree with four-plus years’ experience
- Experience with algorithms and data structures or parsing
- Experience with numerical optimization or data mining
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages
