Estimation is an art that drives opportunity and growth at the forefront of the construction process. In this leadership role, you will act as the Senior Estimator and Preconstruction Lead, owning the full bid process end-to-end while ensuring alignment on cost, scope, schedule, and risk. You are not only responsible for producing estimates; you lead the entire pursuit, from early strategy and positioning through final submission and transition to operations.
You serve as the single point of accountability during preconstruction, ensuring every pursuit is structured, competitive, and risk-aware.
This role is central to our growth, combining technical estimating expertise with project leadership, allowing you to shape winning strategies, mentor teams, and elevate how we pursue work.
What You Will Do- Lead the full-cycle bid process from early pursuit strategy to final submission.
- Act as the preconstruction lead, owning cost planning, scope definition, and pricing strategy for building projects.
- Develop competitive bid strategies, win themes, and commercial approaches aligned with client priorities.
- Oversee detailed quantity take-offs, pricing, and subcontractor trade coverage.
- Validate assumptions, identify and close scope gaps, and ensure complete and accurate pricing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders throughout the pursuit phase.
- Lead and coordinate internal preconstruction teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely delivery.
- Proactively identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies early in the process.
- Ensure a seamless and well-documented handoff to operations for successful project execution.
- 7+ years of estimating experience within the ICI Institutional Buildings sector (e.g., healthcare, education, civic).
- Proven ability to independently lead full-cycle bids, particularly within public tender environments.
- Strong understanding of public procurement processes, bid compliance, and institutional project delivery models.
- Experience working with consultants, public owners, and multidisciplinary stakeholder groups.
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the Vancouver institutional market and subcontractor landscape.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a strong focus on scope completeness, compliance, and pricing accuracy.
- Ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and RFP requirements with a critical lens.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
