Pipelayer

Join a civil construction team as a pipelayer, installing storm, water, telecommunications, and hydro lines, setting manholes, and performing grade and water pipe work across various sites between Vancouver and Maple Ridge. This role is hands‑on, physically demanding, and primarily outdoors, requiring comfort working in all types of weather and on frequently changing job sites.

Responsibilities
  • Lay and install stormwater, water, telecommunication, and hydro lines according to project specifications and safety standards.
  • Perform civil construction tasks including trenching, grading, and back filling to support pipeline installation.
  • Set, grout, and cut manholes accurately and safely as part of underground utility systems.
  • Assist with water pipe installation and ensure proper alignment, connections, and quality of workmanship.
  • Read and follow site instructions and work plans to complete tasks efficiently and correctly.
  • Handle general labor duties on civil construction sites, including material handling, site cleanup, and basic equipment support.
  • Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs throughout the workday.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, cold, heat, and muddy environments.
  • Communicate clearly with forepersons, equipment operators, and team members to coordinate tasks and maintain a safe worksite.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Travel to various sites between Vancouver and Maple Ridge as projects and priorities change.
  • Support urgent project needs at locations such as UBC and East Maple Ridge when required.
  • Contribute to a fast‑paced, team‑driven work environment by being reliable, punctual, and focused on quality work.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in pipe laying within civil construction environments.
  • Proven experience laying storm, water, telecommunications, and hydro lines.
  • Ability to set, grout, and cut manholes safely and accurately.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with site supervisors and crew members.
  • Comfort working outdoors in all types of weather and in muddy, changing site conditions.
  • Ownership and use of required PPE, including 6" steel‑toed boots, safety glasses, protective gloves, hard hat, and high‑visibility vest.
  • Reliable access to a car for travel to multiple job sites.
  • Experience performing general labor tasks on civil construction projects.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience tying rebar on civil or construction projects.
  • Confined space experience or training.
  • Machine experience operating or working around construction equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to frequently moving sites and changing project priorities.
  • Comfort working on large institutional and municipal projects, such as university and suburban infrastructure sites.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn from experienced mentors.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.

Work Environment

This is a field‑based role in civil construction, working primarily outdoors on a variety of sites between Vancouver and Maple Ridge, including locations such as UBC and East Maple Ridge. You will work in all weather conditions and in muddy, uneven terrain, with sites moving frequently as projects progress. The environment is fast‑paced and physically demanding, requiring consistent use of personal protective equipment, including 6" steel‑toed boots, safety glasses, protective gloves, hard hat, and high‑visibility vest.

Work is performed alongside a civil crew and equipment operators, with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and delivering quality infrastructure.
