You as a Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator will:

• Be responsible for safety orientation, job site inspections, onsite first aid assessment/treatment and accident/injury reports
• Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and elevate issues to resolution
• Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and take necessary measures to correct them
• Review of Subcontractors’ Pre-Construction safety submittals
• Review and file Subcontractors’ weekly safety submittals
• Organize and conduct training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Fall Protection, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid
• Effectively compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual project health and safety statistics
• Create, maintain, and educate all site staff on maintaining a safety first culture
• Manage the onsite health care service provided to employees and subcontractors
• Manage and oversee the evaluation and treatment of employees with injuries and/or illnesses and referral to a physician or hospital, and subsequent follow-up treatment
• Follow-up on emergency hospital cases keeping the Claims Management, Site HSE team, project management, and the Regional HSE Director apprised of the status of patients
• Maintain confidential medical records in secure fireproof cabinets
• Assist in planning emergency evacuation procedures in conjunction with the site HSE coordinator and project management team
• Implement project medical database to support the reporting and follow up of injuries/illnesses managed by the on-site medical staff

Is this the right role for you?

• You have a minimum of 2 years’ of safety experience on Institutional, Commercial and Residential Construction Projects.
• You hold a valid first aid certificate.
• National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate is an asset.
• Construction Safety Coordinator Gold Seal Certification or CRSP Designation would be considered an asset.
• Experience in the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program would be considered an asset.
• You have the ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of current occupational health practices and applicable legislation is desirable.
• Knowledge of medical record keeping requirements in accordance with standards of professional practice, applicable governmental regulations, and HSE requirements.
• The salary range for this job is $80,000 - $100,000
