Brunel is currently seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Administrator to support a large-scale mining construction project in Saskatchewan. Working on a 14/14 FIFO rotation, this position will be responsible for the administration of complex construction, engineering, equipment, services, and project-related contracts throughout the execution phase. Candidates may be based anywhere in Canada, with travel to and from site provided in accordance with company policy.

The ideal candidate will bring a diverse major-project background, with experience across sectors such as mining, oil & gas, infrastructure, energy, or heavy industrial construction. Exposure to varied contract structures and scopes is particularly valuable, along with the ability to confidently manage contractor relationships, commercial risk, changes, claims, and contractual obligations within complex capital project environments.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and manage a portfolio of complex, high-value contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Interpret and apply contract terms and conditions while ensuring compliance with project requirements and commercial objectives.
  • Manage contractual notices, correspondence, change orders, amendments, claims, and dispute resolution activities.
  • Review and evaluate contractor requests for change, commercial adjustments, schedule impacts, and contractual entitlements.
  • Support the development and negotiation of commercial solutions to contractual issues.
  • Monitor contractor performance, costs, commitments, deliverables, and contractual obligations.
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks and support the development of appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate contract documentation, registers, correspondence, records, and reporting.
  • Participate in contractor meetings and represent the owner's commercial interests throughout project execution.
  • Support contract closeout activities, including final account reconciliation, documentation turnover, and lessons learned.
  • Provide contractual and commercial guidance to project teams regarding rights, obligations, risks, and contract strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement, project controls, legal, engineering, construction, and project management teams.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with contractors and key project stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10+ years of contracts administration or contract management experience within major capital project environments.
  • Experience across a diverse portfolio of projects, ideally including a combination of mining, oil & gas, infrastructure, energy, or heavy industrial construction.
  • Demonstrated experience administering complex, high-value contracts across different scopes and stages of project execution.
  • Experience with a variety of contracting arrangements involving EPC/EPCM, construction, engineering services, equipment supply, procurement, heavy civil, earthworks, mechanical, electrical, and specialized contractor services.
  • Strong understanding of contract change management, claims administration, commercial risk, and contractual governance.
  • Experience evaluating contractor change requests, commercial adjustments, schedule impacts, and contractual entitlement.
  • Strong understanding of different contracting strategies, commercial models, and risk allocation.
  • Experience working with EPC/EPCM contractors, construction contractors, suppliers, consultants, and specialized subcontractors.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to interpret complex contractual requirements and provide practical guidance to project teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple contracts, contractors, stakeholders, and competing priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary major-project environment.
