Position Summary:

LaSalle College Vancouver is seeking a Game Audio Instructor with strong professional experience in interactive and adaptive audio for video games. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on industry knowledge, a passion for sound design and implementation workflows, and an ability to mentor students learning the collaborative, technical, and creative aspects of the game audio pipeline.

They should possess an instinctive understanding of Media Arts learners with the ability to communicate concepts in an accessible, collaborative, and supportive way. Successful applicants will have a passion for their craft, the ability to share their knowledge, follow a set curriculum, and inspire students to excel in their chosen field of study.

Reporting to the Program Director of Media Arts, the successful candidate will teach Game Audio, where students develop skills in:

  • Event-driven programming concepts and object-oriented audio implementation
  • FMOD and Wwise interactive audio systems
  • Unity integration and real-time environmental sound design
  • Cinematic sound mixing, dialog editing, and spatial audio

Key Responsibilities

Teacha minimum of one and a maximum of five sections
* each term, as assigned by the Program Director for Media Arts and/or Chief Academic Officer.

Teaching & Curriculum

  • Teach assigned Game Audio courses following established outlines, learning outcomes, and curriculum standards.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver classes on schedule and communicate any changes proactively.
  • Create a student-centered, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports diverse learning styles.
  • Guide students in designing and implementing interactive sound effects, ambience, dialogue assets, adaptive music, and cinematic mixes.
  • Demonstrate and support student workflows using FMOD, Wwise, Unity, and relevant DAWs.
  • Provide structured, constructive feedback on student work, supporting iterative improvement and professional growth.
  • Model professional studio practices, including version control, documentation, naming/organization standards, and collaborative production etiquette.
  • Uphold academic and attendance policies, including timely grading and accurate record management.
  • Communicate effectively with students via approved communication platforms and provide support in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to teaching excellence, reflective practice, and continuous professional development.
  • Support emerging sound designers and technical audio artists in developing portfolio-ready interactive audio projects.
  • Encourage creative problem-solving, critical listening, and iterative testing of audio systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in game audio, interactive sound design, technical sound design, or related roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with FMOD and/or Wwise for real-time audio implementation.
  • Experience working with Unity or another real-time development environment.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one DAW (Pro Tools, Logic, Reaper, Ableton Live, etc.).
