As a CFX Artist, you will be responsible for delivering photo‑realistic, high‑quality simulations of cloth, hair, muscle simulations and other realistic 3D visual effects for feature films and episodic series.
Key Responsibilities- Create realistic and visually compelling character effects simulation (hair, cloth, muscle) using industry‑standard software.
- Iterate on simulations based on feedback from supervision and clients.
- Creative post‑processing of simulation results using techniques such as modeling and sculpting.
- Collaborate closely with animation, modeling, rigging, and lighting departments to ensure seamless integration of CFX elements.
- Communicate and partner with supervisors to develop and implement solutions for complex CFX challenges.
- Maintain a high level of quality and consistency throughout the production process.
- Troubleshoot and problem‑solve technical issues related to CFX.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphics, Animation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of CFX simulation experience in live‑action visual effects for feature films, episodic or similar production environment.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional cloth, hair, muscle simulations and/or groom.
- Proficiency in industry‑standard software such as Maya and Houdini is required.
- Solid understanding of anatomy, physics, animation and simulation principles.
- Excellent attention to detail such as character locomotion, cloth and hair behaviors.
- Experience delivering and completing tasks under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to take direction and constructive criticism.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Quick learner with strong troubleshooting/problem‑solving abilities.
- Familiarity with scripting languages is a plus (Python, VEX).
- Experience with rigging and character setup is a plus.
- Experience in CG Grooming is a plus (Xgen/Houdini).
- Other DCC knowledge is a plus.

This salary range is specific to applicants applying to our position in Vancouver, BC. To determine your base salary, we consider your qualifications, skills, and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary outside of this range and will also be dependent on your location.
