Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of UX, the Product Designer is responsible for collaborating closely with your primary delivery team, building relationships with business leads and cross‑functional stakeholders across the enterprise, and interfacing directly with our partners in financial institutions and our customers. This individual must gain a deep understanding of our users and customers and seek the data to truly understand how our customers will engage with our product.
This will join our exciting journey as we aim to shape the future of investing for Canadians by delivering best‑in‑class advisor and investor wealth platforms. As a Product Designer, you will identify and solve for user needs that align with business objectives and technical strategy to define the user experience that brings our initial vision to life as well as charts the course for our continued success.
Your work will holistically explore the entire customer journey by researching and validating requirements with users and stakeholders, defining and designing conceptually before we even start thinking of UI, prototyping and testing solutions for iterative design, and documenting reusable patterns leveraging our design system for rapid delivery with our development team. The Product Designer is a key voice in advocating for user‑centered practice within the organization and communicating the unique value and outcomes that customer experience activities bring to the business.
Work Arrangement: This can be a remote role, however for those who would like to come into the office we are at 151 Yonge St, Toronto, ON. Hybrid position based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Contract Duration: 6 months
What Your Day Looks Like:
- While each member of the empowered product team plays a key role in the delivery of the solution, the Product Designer understands that consistent innovation is the result of each member of the product team and other stakeholders contributing their passion and their ideas. Moreover, this individual must possess an innate curiosity that compels them to continually track design trends and the competitive landscape to constantly enhance designs to keep Aviso at the forefront of the innovation curve
- The Product Designer acts as design lead over the experience, interaction design, information design and user interface for their product area in close collaboration with a Product Leadership triad that includes the Product Manager and Technology Lead
- Accountability will be a key to success. You will identify, analyze, and perform user research and data analysis to clarify opportunities and uncover issues, as well as to set and evaluate target metrics which provide user and business value
- Develop conceptual diagrams, task flows, information architecture, wireframes and interaction design specs to ensure the user’s needs are being met across all stages of the customer journey
. - Create user interface screens, components and solutions for B2B2C web platforms, leveraging and contributing to our design system, as a part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast‑paced environment to meet complex business requirements and user needs. UI design is a small fraction of the overall Product Designer’s mandate, if your skillset is primarily in UI design you are welcome to apply but this role will likely not be a great fit for you
- Craft and maintain up-to-date interactive prototypes that represent the current state of the design for presentation at an executive level
- Develop components, mocks and prototypes and design and run and analyze usability tests to formulate a clear rationale and validate design decisions to be shared with stakeholders
- Consolidate the prevailing design decisions into effective communication presentations and design specifications to align stakeholders and guide development teams
- Communicate opportunities and design vision with Product Managers and Technical Leads to define iteration plans with rapid deliverables and measurable outcomes in a build‑measure‑learn product strategy
