- Practice in both rural and urban communities

- Practice through Primary Care Networks, Urgent and Primary Care Centres, Island Healthowned and operated clinics and private clinics
- Work within specialized programs.
- Participate in teaching through the University of British Columbia's Island Medical

Island Health offers family medicine opportunities across a range of practice environments.
Primary Care Networks (PCNs)are clinical networks of primary care service providers withina geographical area. They provide team-based primary care through a range of care models,bringing together knowledge and experience to support coordinated care for patients.
Urgent and Primary Care Centres (UPCCs)provide access to same-day, urgent, nonemergency health care. Many centres offer evening, weekend and statutory holiday hours,providing an alternative to the hospital for concerns that do not require emergency care.
Opportunities are also available in Island Health-owned and operated clinics, privateclinics and specialized programs across Vancouver Island The CommunitiesIsland Health offers opportunities in communities ranging from vibrant urban centres toclose-knit coastal and rural communities, with populations ranging from approximately5,000 to 390,000.

Island Health has academic affiliation with the University of British Columbia's Island Medical Program and offers teaching opportunities through the Family Practice Residency Program.
