Overview
High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor Wanted. Motivated by mathematics? Sharp with science? Excited by equations in both fields? Eager to help students succeed in math and science? Oxford Learning Vancouver Oakridge is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.
Oxford Learning Vancouver Oakridge is an in-person position; this is not an online role.

Position DetailsLocation:
5516 Cambie Street, Vancouver, BC, V5Z 3A2. This role is in-person and requires a commute to the Vancouver area. Relocation packages are not available.
Hours:
after-school and evening hours (3:00pm - 7:00pm) and some Saturdays (10:00am - 3:00pm) and Sundays (10:00am - 2:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred; continuing through the summer is encouraged.
Screening:
Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
Employment type:
Part-time
- Pursuing/finished Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 8-12 math and science curriculum, including senior math (Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus) and subjects such as vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology
- Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 8 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong math/science knowledge and ability to guide students’ understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
- Work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with responsibilities including teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
- Teach online and in-person
- Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Fill in post-lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
- Help students develop self-confidence and self-esteem
- Smiles, high-fives, and a rewarding teaching experience
