Job SummaryThe Faculty of Applied Science at UBC encompasses six engineering departments, the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, the School of Nursing, the School of Community and Regional Planning, four multidisciplinary programs, five major research centres, and the School of Engineering at UBC Okanagan. As UBC’s fourth-largest faculty, it operates across the Point Grey and Okanagan campuses, as well as various off-site locations, including health authority facilities.
As a multi-disciplinary Faculty, the core purpose is to discover, design and innovate, provide top-tier education and champion a community of responsible professionals.
The EDI.I Specialist is responsible for planning and managing faculty-wide Indigenous and Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) programs and initiatives in the Faculty of Applied Science at the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. Working in consultation with the Associate Dean, EDI and Student Success this role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs, initiatives, events, and outreach in support of the strategic Indigenous and EDI goals of the Faculty and University.
OrganizationalStatus
This role reports directly to the Associate Dean, Student Success and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. The EDI.I Specialist will collaborate with and provide support to the various units within the Applied Science Dean’s Office, as well as staff and faculty in the departments, schools, and research centres. In addition, the role will collaborate with communities and partners both internal and external to the University to support EDI.I
programs and initiatives.
In consultation with the Associate Dean, leads faculty wide EDI.I projects, including services, award programs, and equity deserving student impacting initiatives
Manages the planning, delivery, and promotion of identified EDI.I programs, services, activities.
Manages EDI.I projects and initiatives throughout the project life cycle, anticipating and mitigating potential risks and providing advice on the resolutions of issues as they arise to ensure targets are met.
Leads the Awards portfolio, including managing awards adjudication committees and processes, developing rubrics, and assessing award applications
Plans and manages the delivery of EDI.I events including talks, speakers series, and workshops
Manages EDI.I program and initiative budgets
Plans and manages communications and outreach for EDI.I. Develops marketing, communication, and outreach assets, as well as written items such as speaking notes and EDI.I fact sheets. Manages the implementation of all programming related communications.
Identifies, writes, and manages grant/award applications for various funding agencies such as StEAR Enhancement grant, Black Faculty Cohort hiring application etc.
Leads data management for EDI.I initiatives and develops data strategies to evaluate reach and impact of programing.
