WOOD 330 is a 3-credit course offered within the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship by the Department of Wood Science for 3rd‑year students in the Wood Products Processing program. The course has two lectures and one lab per week, all delivered in person. It covers the use of industrial engineering concepts and methods to analyse and improve organisations’ competitiveness, including operations strategy and competitiveness, supply chain management, time study, inventory management, Monte Carlo simulation, linear programming, and sensitivity analysis.
Job DescriptionThe position involves preparing and delivering lectures (two 1‑hour lectures per week; each lecture is 50 minutes) and a two‑hour lab per week during the first term. Lectures run from September1 to December
31,2026. The instructor will prepare course notes, slides, assignments, quizzes, case studies, a mid‑term, and a final exam to be given during the formal exam period. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, leading lab sessions, supervising and mentoring teaching assistant(s), providing feedback on assignments, quizzes, case studies, and exams, maintaining records of grades, and submitting final grades in a timely fashion to the Department office.
Availability to students outside normal class and lab hours to answer questions is required.
- PhD in Industrial Engineering / Operations Research / Management Science or a relevant field, or enrolled in a relevant PhD program with the qualifying exam completed; post‑doctoral fellows and research staff holding a PhD are also eligible.
- Teaching or TA experience is required.
- Familiarity with Canvas and knowledge of the wood industry, forest products supply chain, and programming are required.
Expected salary: $4,000 per credit.
