Spanish Language Instructor

Position: Spanish Language Instructor Island
Enhance student understanding of Spanish at Vancouver Island University. As an Instructor, engage students in introductory and intermediate courses to foster language proficiency and cultural awareness.

The Modern Languages Studies Department is seeking a dedicated Spanish Instructor to teach four sections per term, including Beginning Spanish I and II, and Intermediate Spanish I. In this role, you will assess student placements and participate in various faculty activities to contribute to student success and community engagement. Your commitment to teaching and learning sets the tone for a positive classroom experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach introductory and intermediate Spanish courses each term

• Assess and place students within the language program

• Engage in institutional and departmental committee meetings

• Support student success through diverse activities

• Incorporate cultural understanding in language instruction

Requirements:

• M.A. in Spanish or related field required

• Excellence in teaching at post-secondary level

• Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish

• Experience with instructional technology preferred

• Engage in professional development opportunities
