Associate Vice-President, Student Engagement

The Associate VP Student Engagement is responsible for assisting the VP Student Engagement in various projects and tasks, as well as fostering strong community involvement within the undergraduate student body. The AVPSE will work both with the VP Student Engagement and in their own capacity to further student engagement within the CUS.
Time Commitment & Term of Employment- 5-10 hours per week (Up to 15 during peak times)
- April 2026 – March 2027
- Work closely with the VP Student Engagement on managing the Student Engagement portfolio and its services by exploring new and exciting initiatives for enhancing student engagement at Sauder
- Co‑facilitate check‑ins with Student Engagement Service Chairs and provide problem‑solving and liaising abilities to support their service
- Coordinate with the Marketing Portfolio to create community engagement through various communication channels (Video, Photos, Social Media) and/or events
- Coordinate with the Marketing Portfolio to write, design, and publish a First Year guide and Mentorship/Mentee Guides on topics that students would find informative and useful
- Gather and analyze feedback on student needs, then provide recommendations to the CUS and Faculty based on historical, current and expected data
- Collaborate with the VP Student Engagement and Marketing Portfolio to redesign Sauder Gives Back and Commerce Connections initiatives in the second semester.
- Organize and execute various CUS Events. This may include, but is not limited to: welcome events, holiday events, or engagement‑related initiatives.
- Strong organizational ability and adaptability
- Strong sense of community, empathy, and care for inclusivity
- Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstration of critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with managing teams, working in groups and facilitating meetings is an asset
- Experience in event planning and ideation is an asset
- Analytical ability to understand students' wants and pursue engagement initiatives to meet those expectations, to help students, and to foster growth in the CUS
- Genuine passion and care for engagement amongst the student body
