Role PurposeThe Senior Manager, Indigenous Communities, provides strategic leadership, relationship stewardship, and program development oversight for JABC’s work with Indigenous communities and Indigenous learners across British Columbia.
While the primary focus of this role is to expand and strengthen the Company Program for Indigenous Learners (CPI), including tailoring its content to reflect community priorities, cultural context, and learner needs, the role also supports the broader expansion of JABC’s Indigenous-focused programming across entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness.
This position is responsible for building and sustaining high-impact partnerships with Indigenous communities, school districts, post-secondary institutions, community organizations, and partners to expand access to JABC programs in ways that are culturally responsive, community-informed, and aligned with Indigenous youth aspirations.
This role is based in the Greater Vancouver Area, and regular travel within and occasional travel outside of the Lower Mainland is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the VP, Programs, your key responsibilities include:
Strategic Relationship Development & Partnership Leadership- Lead strategic relationship-building with Indigenous communities, Chief and Council, educational districts, universities, and corporate partners.
- Serve as JABC’s primary liaison with UBC Sauder, University of Victoria and other institutions, ensuring effective collaboration, curriculum alignment, and execution of all terms under Memoranda of Understanding and other governing documents.
- Represent JABC in provincial and community forums, cultural gatherings, galas, and other strategic events to strengthen brand presence and foster meaningful partnerships.
- Develop and lead strategies to expand CPI and other Indigenous Programs across new districts, Indigenous communities, and remote/online cohorts.
- Build partnerships with Indigenous-owned businesses and organizations to incorporate guest speakers, mentorship opportunities, and resource contributions.
- Travel within the province as required to engage prospective and existing partners in person.
- Oversee the curriculum for CPI, ensuring it authentically reflects Indigenous worldviews, values, and approaches to learning, adapting the curriculum as needed to reflect the particular Indigenous culture of the youth taking the program.
- Act as liaison with the broader JA Company Program, incorporating lessons, modules and resources from that program as appropriate.
- Provide direction and quality oversight for all CPI programming to ensure delivery excellence and cultural integrity.
- Serve as the primary JABC representative to Directors of Instruction, Indigenous Education departments, school district administrators, Indigenous Support Workers, educators, and community-based education partners.
- Coordinate with Indigenous Support Workers, educators, facilitators, and local champions to ensure successful integration and delivery of CPI and other JABC programs.
- Work with community and school partners to identify which JABC programs are most relevant to local goals, including entrepreneurship, financial literacy, career readiness, leadership, and work readiness.
- Address emerging needs, feedback, or opportunities from school districts and community partners with a solutions-focused and relationship-centered approach.
- Support program planning across in-school, after-school, online, community-based, and hybrid delivery models.
