Fraser Academy (FA) is an independent school in Kitsilano, Vancouver, BC serving students in grades 1‑12 with dyslexia and language‑based learning differences through day and outreach programs. Job SummaryAs a Social Studies Teacher, you will play an important role in developing historical thinking in students, and promoting good communication and citizenship throughout the school. You will work with a collaborative, dynamic team of educators and staff who are passionate about the success of all learners. This role requires someone who can adapt and adjust their teaching to meet the diverse needs of each learner and is passionate about student success.
Excellent instructional practice and an eagerness to learn and grow as an educator are required for this role.
- Belong to and collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals

- Participate in field trips, outdoor education trips, athletics, clubs, and leadership development
- Plan, teach & assess your students in accordance with BC Ministry of Education Curriculum.
- Design and implement lessons that build core competencies and support growth in executive functioning and cognitive processing using in‑school programs (training provided).
- Participate in co‑curricular and extracurricular activities that enhance students’ experiences at school.
- Support the development of Individual Education Plans for each student in your classes.
- Collaborate with faculty members to ensure students receive the highest quality education and programming.
- Provide ongoing feedback to students and parent/guardians regarding student progress.
- Provide a dynamic, innovative, adaptive, and enthusiastic learning experience for students.
- Thrive in a collaborative, flexible, and supportive team environment.
- Maintain an active commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
- Exemplary communication in English (oral and written) and interpersonal skills (students, colleagues, parents).
- Passion for continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Social Studies field of study.
- Bachelor’s of Education.
- BC Teacher Certification.
- Experience teaching reading using a structured literacy approach is an asset.
- Experience working with students who have learning differences is preferred.
- Independent school experience and coaching/extracurricular experience are assets.

CompensationThe annual salary for this position falls within the range of $68,631 to $122,741. The final salary will be determined based on experience and education.
