Compensation Range: $28.70 – $31.67 per hour
(0.4 FTE)
The youth care worker will provide one-on-one and small-group counselling for students and programming to educate high school students on overall well-being.
Responsibilities- Perform short-term and crisis intervention for high school students as needed
- Provide programming to educate students regarding well-being issues
- Consult with teachers and explore possible strategies and solutions for the concerns that arise to support students
- Maintain confidential records of interactions with students
- Guidance for teachers in identifying students who may require additional support and intervention
- Identify areas of concern with students and develop strategies to improve the interactions between students
- To implement restorative justice procedures following discipline incidents
- To meet regularly with the counselling team and the school-based team
- To act as a coordinated and integrated support team to meet individual needs
- To act as a coordinated and integrated support team to meet group or grade-level needs
- To facilitate communication with parents from the integrated support team to offer consistent and coordinated advice in supporting their children
- A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counselling, education, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with youth in educational, counselling, or social service settings is preferred. This could include internships, volunteer work, or paid positions.
- Certifications such as Certified Child and Youth Care Worker (CCYCW), Certified Youth Care Practitioner (CYCP), or other relevant certifications in counselling or social work are preferred.
- A strong understanding of child and adolescent development, behaviour management techniques, trauma-informed care, and relevant laws and regulations (such as child protection laws) is essential.
- Christian counselling or perspective courses will be an asset
$28.70 – $31.67 per hour (dependent on education, qualifications, and experience)
