Shape language education as a half-time Instructor in Japanese at Vancouver Island University. Teach foundational courses while engaging in community and student connection initiatives.
The Modern Languages Studies Department is looking for an enthusiastic instructor to teach Basic Japanese I and II, with a possible course in East Asian Cultures. You will assess students’ language skills while partaking in various educational and departmental contributions to enhance student experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach Basic Japanese I (two sections) in Fall
• Conduct Basic Japanese II (one section) in Spring
• Potentially instruct Introduction to East Asian Cultures
• Evaluate and place students in the Japanese program
• Engage in committee meetings and community activities
Requirements:
• M.A. in Japanese from an accredited institution
• Proven post-secondary teaching excellence
• Native or near-native Japanese language proficiency
• Instructional technology experience is a plus
• Dedication to fostering student learning and engagement
