About the Role

The Director, Indigenous Programs is a visionary leader committed to advancing decolonization and Indigenization in education and oversees academic Indigenous Programs and Indigenous community engagement initiatives for the Beedie School of Business Graduate Programs. The role provides support to faculty as they integrate Indigenous ways of knowing into courses and programs; oversees the delivery of the Executive Master’s in Business Administration in Indigenous Business and Leadership (EMBA IBL) program;

graduate Indigenous courses, and the Indigenous Business Leadership Graduate Diploma and Certificate programs and works closely with multiple work partners across the University to support initiatives to recognize and incorporate Indigenous cultural curriculum, knowledge and history within the School and collaboratively with other SFU Faculties and universities as appropriate.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Educational Leadership, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration or other related field, and five years of related experience in managing Indigenous education/training, working with Indigenous student and community groups, and experience with internal/external relations related to Indigenous community partnership development, fundraising and grant writing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of Indigenous issues in Post-Secondary education, Truth and Reconciliation Commission and its Calls to Action, The Royal Commission on Indigenous People, The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
  • Excellent partnership-building, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of risk management
  • Excellent knowledge of trauma informed and cultural safety approaches and practices.
  • Excellent public relations skills and problem-solving skills working in an external transparent environment.
