Job SummaryThe Dean, Faculty of Arts (including responsibility for Management) provides strategic leadership, planning, administration, and evaluation of the Faculty portfolio, including academic programs, employees, policies, procedures, facilities, and budget, in alignment with the College's strategic and academic priorities. Working collaboratively with employees, students, and other internal and external partners, the Dean leads the development of a shared vision, mission, and goals that advance the Faculty's success.
The Dean provides leadership for a diverse mix of career, university transfer, post‑degree, and baccalaureate programs while promoting excellence in teaching and learning, emerging scholarship, and applied research. The Dean fosters an environment where personal and academic integrity, cross‑cultural understanding, student engagement, and well‑being flourish. Through the College's strategic framework, the Dean ensures the effective stewardship of Faculty resources and supports the development of innovative programs that prepare students to become responsible, productive, informed, and reflective citizens, scholars, and creative leaders.

Langara College's Faculty of Arts offers microcredentials, certificates, diplomas, associate degrees, and post‑degree diplomas across a diverse range of disciplines and subject areas, including Art History, Design Formation, English, Film Arts, Fine Arts, Interdisciplinary Studies, Journalism, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Professional Photography, Theatre Arts at Studio 58, and Web and Mobile App Design and Development.
Among its offerings is Theatre Arts at Studio 58, Langara's nationally recognized professional theatre training program, providing exceptional education for both actors and production personnel. The Faculty is also home to one of Western Canada's premier professional photography programs.
ManagementThe Dean will also provide leadership for Langara College's Management programs, which offer degrees, diplomas, and post‑degree diplomas in Financial Management, Business Management, International Business, Business Technology Management, and Marketing Management. Developed in collaboration with industry mentors and delivered by instructors with extensive professional experience, these programs equip graduates with the practical knowledge and skills needed to make an immediate impact in local and global organizations.
Duties & Responsibilities Provides Strategic Leadership- Articulates a shared vision, mission and goals for the Faculty, consistent with the College’s strategic and academic plans, and based on current best practices. Participates in advising, coordinating, and decision‑making on College-wide operational and strategic matters.
- Provides leadership in the development of new programs and oversees curriculum in the Faculty. Allocates resources to support the success of programs and initiatives. Supports and assists the development of international initiatives within the Faculty.
- Develops an operational plan for the Faculty on an annual basis. Ensures the quality and integrity of programs and academic offerings within the Faculty. Supports and assists academic program review and renewal. Encourages and supports scholarship and applied research among faculty.
