Kindergarten Teacher – Read Write Inc Phonics Specialist

Job Summary

Tamim Academy of Vancouver is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Kindergarten Teacher with a strong background in Read Write Inc. (RWI) and phonics-based literacy instruction
. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and committed to fostering a nurturing, engaging, and academically rich learning environment where young learners can thrive.

• Plan and deliver engaging Kindergarten lessons aligned with the BC Curriculum.
• Implement the Read Write Inc. (RWI) program effectively to develop strong foundational literacy skills.
• Teach systematic phonics, reading, writing, oral language, and early literacy concepts.
• Monitor and assess student progress, using data to inform instruction and support student growth.
• Differentiate learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Create a warm, positive, and inclusive classroom culture that promotes confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
• Foster students' social, emotional, and academic development.
• Maintain open and professional communication with parents and caregivers.
• Collaborate with colleagues, learning support staff, and administration.
• Participate in staff meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development opportunities.

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Valid BC Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification.
• Experience teaching Kindergarten or Primary grades.
• Demonstrated experience implementing the Read Write Inc. (RWI) program.
• Strong understanding of phonics instruction and early literacy development.
• Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

• Experience in an independent school setting.
• Familiarity with Jewish culture, traditions, and values is considered an asset.
