Vancouver Talmud Torah is recruiting a 0.275 FTE PHE Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year.
Vancouver Talmud Torah is an Early Childhood to Grade 7 Jewish community day school fostering Jewish identity and literacy with a strong emphasis on producing students who will engage the world through Jewish values. Qualifications- Current BC Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education.
- Specialization or demonstrated experience in Physical and Health Education (PHE) at the elementary level.
- Commitment to students and to supporting their individual learning needs.
- Skill in differentiating instruction and fostering a collaborative and creative environment with faculty and staff.
- Ability to use a wide range of learning strategies and teaching styles according to the needs of the class and the students.
- A commitment to excellence in teaching, collaboration and ongoing professional growth.
- An excellent understanding of the BC Ministry of Education K–7 PHE curriculum.
- A proficiency with using technology to enhance the curriculum.
- Excellent communication, creative problem solving and organizational skills.
- Support the mission, vision and values of our school.
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate PHE lessons for elementary students (K–7).
- Implement the BC Ministry of Education PHE curriculum with a focus on physical literacy, health, and social-emotional wellbeing.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive physical education environment for all students.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and the student support team to integrate PHE across the school community.
- Supervise students during physical activities, ensuring safety protocols are observed at all times.
- Maintain and organize PHE equipment and facilities.
- Participate in school-wide professional development and contribute to a collaborative school culture.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and program updates.
