Education Assistant, Junior School (Primary Program)
Full-time Fixed-term Contract
Annual compensation: $46,000 - $52,000.
Responsibilities- Work in collaboration with teachers to organize enriching programs with a focus on primary classrooms (Grade 1-3)
- Support individual and small groups of learners who require additional attention throughout the school day, addressing social, emotional, executive functioning and academic support
- Assist students according to an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or School Based Support Plan (SBSP) with guidance from classroom and learning resource teachers
- Provide clear and detailed documentation of student progress and behaviour to determine triggers, patterns and effective interventions
- Participate in regular meetings about student learning with the full team of educators
- Support the creation of an inquiry‑based learning environment
- Assist teachers in performing specific tasks and responsibilities
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom visual displays
- Supervise children during transitions, lunch and play outside
- Participate in after‑school care and co‑curricular programs
- Support school events such as the Public Speaking event, Sports Day and concerts
- Bachelor of Education / Education Assistant Certificate / Diploma or equivalent (asset)
- 1–3 years of experience working with children in an educational setting
- Experience supporting a range of learning needs, including ADHD, ASD, sensory regulation, etc.
- Experience documenting student behaviour
- Experience supporting early literacy and numeracy development
Awareness of the learning styles of young girls - Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, highly organized with attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong time‑management skills
- Energy, commitment and readiness to participate in the co‑curricular program and school community
Classes begin in September 2026 following teacher orientation in late August 2026.
