Dena Wosk School of Performing Arts at the JCC is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Israeli Dance instructor to lead our children's and teen Israeli dance programs. The successful candidate will create engaging, age-appropriate classes that develop technical skills, confidence, teamwork, and a love of Israeli dance and Jewish culture.

Students may perform throughout the year at community celebrations, cultural events, festivals, and the annual Rikud B'Yachad showcase. Older dancers may also have opportunities to participate in regional travel experiences to Edmonton and Winnipeg.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach weekly Israeli dance classes for children and teens.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Teach Israeli dance technique, musicality, performance skills, and age-appropriate choreography.
  • Adapt instruction to suit different ages and skill levels.
  • Prepare students for performances, rehearsals, festivals, and community events.
  • Foster teamwork, confidence, leadership, and an appreciation for Israeli culture.
  • Communicate with families regarding schedules, performances, costumes, and expectations.
  • Collaborate with the DWSPA Manager and fellow instructors to support the growth of the program.
  • Assist with optional travel opportunities and festivals when applicable.
  • Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment.
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching Israeli dance or a strong background as an Israeli dancer and prior experience teaching children and/or teens.
  • Strong choreography, communication, and classroom management skills.
  • Organized, reliable, and enthusiastic.
  • Willingness to attend rehearsals, performances, festivals, and occasional events outside regular class hours.
  • Must clear a criminal record check for working with vulnerable people.
Schedule & Compensation
  • Classes are held on Wednesday evenings. (There may be additional opportunities to teach 1-2 classes during the week).
  • Fall Term (begins September 16, 2026): 5:00–7:00 PM
  • Winter/Spring Term: 4:15–7:00 PM
  • Teaching hours are dependent on registration and class enrollment.
  • Compensation starts at $38.47/hour for candidates with previous teaching experience. Placement above the starting rate may be considered based on qualifications and experience.
