The Student Assistant position is responsible for providing support services, including personal care, mobility, lifting, and positive behaviour and safety support within the K-12 school system. Under the direction of teachers and school teams, the Student Assistant facilitates student agency, self-determination, and active participation in all aspects of school life, including participation in school events such as field trips.
The Student Assistant is required to follow procedures related to the operation of the school (fire drills, emergencies, etc); follow student-specific emergency procedures; and maintain confidentiality regarding students and the school. Other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Successful applicants must have completed high school or equivalency. Training in areas such as Early Childhood Education (ECE 1-year Certificate), Child Development & Behavior, Developmental Social Worker, Special Education, or other related fields is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered.
Experience working with children either in a work or volunteer capacity is required.
Training in First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention - CPI, behaviour management techniques, assistive devices and technology, and other related courses would be considered assets.

NAPE Student Assistant Salary Scale (CG-26) $25.03 - 27.70 per hour
