This position, within the Ta na wa Ns7éyx̱nitm ta Snew̓iyelh Department, emphasizes community engagement and language instruction in the Nexwníw̓mamin Ch'áwch'aw Territory. You will lead classes and create educational materials that reflect Squamish traditions, music, and values. By working closely with fluent speakers and community partners, your role will significantly impact language revitalization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate full-time Squamish language classes
• Design engaging lesson plans and activities
• Support immersion programming for families and children
• Monitor student progress through evaluations
• Develop resources for effective teaching
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
• At least 2-3 years of relevant teaching experience
• Proficient command of the Squamish language
• Experience with curriculum development
• Strong organizational and communication abilities
