Job Summary:

Educational Software Developer will support the development of interactive STEM digital learning resources using Microsoft tools. Working with TRIUMF’s Education and Student Programs and Communciations teams, the student will help design, develop, test, and refine Minecraft Education modules that introduce learners to STEM concepts and provide engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences.

The position combines
** computer programming, educational technology, and game-based learning.
** The successful candidate will bring a strong technical background and an interest in applying programming and digital technologies to create innovative educational experiences for students.##

Key Responsibilities:

* Research Minecraft Education capabilities, tools, APIs, coding environments, and best practices for game-based STEM education.
* Support the design and development of interactive STEM learning modules within Minecraft Education.
* Develop and implement programming and technical components required for Minecraft-based learning experiences.
* Work collaboratively with Education and Student Programs staff and TRIUMF researchers to ensure scientific accuracy and appropriate learning outcomes.
* Prototype, test, troubleshoot, and refine Minecraft Education modules.
* Develop supporting resources and documentation for educators and students.
* Participate in user testing and incorporate feedback to improve functionality, accessibility, and learner experience.
* Document technical development processes to support future maintenance and expansion of the modules.
* Contribute ideas for new approaches to digital STEM learning and educational technology at TRIUMF.##

Qualifications:

Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in:
* Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Interactive Arts and Technology, or a related discipline.ontribute ideas for new approaches to digital STEM learning and educational technology vious experience with game development, educational software, or developing digital learning resources is considered an asset but is not required.## Learning Outcomes:

Through this co-op placement, the student will have the opportunity to:
* Develop an understanding of game-based learning and the use of emerging digital technologies in STEM education.
* Apply computer programming and software-development skills to a real-world educational technology project.
* Develop experience in prototyping, testing, debugging, documentation, and iterative software development.
* Learn how scientific and technical concepts can be translated into accessible and engaging digital learning experiences.
* Gain experience working with scientists, educators, and other professionals in a multidisciplinary research environment.
* Strengthen project management, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
