In this full-time teaching role under the Ta na wa Ns7éyx̱nitm ta Snew̓iyelh Language Department, you will provide expert instruction in Squamish language, culture, and traditions to learners of all ages. Collaboration with community members and Elders is crucial in creating engaging lessons that promote language acquisition and cultural understanding, helping to connect individuals with their heritage.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver immersive Squamish language lessons full-time
• Develop curriculum, lesson plans, and engaging resources
• Evaluate student learning and provide progress reports
• Coordinate educational field trips and activities
• Work alongside community partners on revitalization projects
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years experience in teaching
• Strong proficiency in the Squamish language
• Knowledge of local culture and traditions
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
