Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation. Our Energy subsector supports clients from coast to coast, providing design, engineering and environmental services across the project lifecycle in onshore/offshore energy and energy transition markets. The role focuses on leading mechanical engineering efforts for power generation projects and collaborating with multiple disciplines to meet mechanical engineering goals. Opportunities include work on a wide range of power plant technologies including biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, and hydro.

The position is based in Canada with preference for Calgary, AB;
Moncton, NB; or Kitchener, ON, and may be located at other Canadian offices.

• Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities
• Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, industry codes and standards to projects
• Perform high-complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection
• Develop P&IDs for power plant systems including steam cycles, boiler feed, condensate, water treatment, fuel gas, hydrogen, and utilities
• Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment including heat recovery steam generators, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, and pumps
• Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems
• Check design deliverables against industry codes, standards, contract requirements, and company standards
• Coordinate with other drafters, designers, and engineers and review work progress and results
• Provide technical mentoring and/or oversight

• University Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
• 10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering design experience within the EPCM environment, ideally with a focus on industrial facilities
• Currently licensed professional engineer (P.Eng, Ing, PE) in the province of practice
• Experience with in the consulting environment is desired
• Previous experience with power plant or renewable natural gas plant design is desired
• Proven experience as a senior mechanical expert in front of clients with the ability to lead and mentor others
• Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of Smart Plant 3D or CADWorx
• Experience using Caesar II or Auto Pipe and Thermoflow

Salary range (in British Columbia): $136,200 - $187,200. The final salary may vary based on education, qualifications, experience, location, and business needs. Company benefits include comprehensive employee-focused programs and wellness resources.
