Overview
As a Mechanical Test Engineer at Zaber, you will develop innovative test systems for our precision motion control products. You’ll run tests on electromechanical devices by setting up equipment, writing automated scripts, and analyzing performance results. From nanometer-scale laser interferometers to half-ton thrust test setups, you’ll gain experience working with a wide range of equipment.
You’ll join a team focused on expanding measurement capabilities for complex, multi-axis systems in industrial markets. Your projects will help push the limits of what our test infrastructure can measure and validate. While prototyping components, you ll access a well-equipped machine shop, which includes a waterjet, laser cutter, mills, and lathes.
Responsibilities- Create test plans, run tests, analyze results, write reports, and collaborate with designers/developers to ensure the desired information is captured.
- Investigate sources of error in test systems and implement strategies to mitigate or eliminate them.
- Write Python scripts to automate our tests and use data analysis tools to convey important conclusions.
- Design, improve, and manufacture new test jigs.
- Keen interest in digging deep into problems and optimizing processes.
- Hands-on experience or mechanical aptitude, ideally with precision systems. We’re especially interested in your work with mechanical systems.
- Experience with Python, object-oriented programming, and data analysis.
- A degree in mechanical, mechatronics engineering, or similar.
