Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Match Box Consulting Group is working with a well-respected, employee-owned engineering consultancy to find a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing Power & Transportation group in Vancouver. Are you a senior-level geotechnical engineer looking to lead complex civil and infrastructure projects across transportation, hydroelectric, and marine sectors while mentoring junior engineers and staying hands-on in design and analysis? This role offers leadership without losing the technical challenge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead geotechnical design and analysis for civil infrastructure, including foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and embankments.
• Oversee and manage geotechnical investigations, modeling, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle—from concept through construction.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients by helping them navigate geotechnical risks, regulatory frameworks, and design challenges.
• Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to deliver technically sound and cost-effective solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in internal knowledge-sharing and training.
• Prepare technical documents, design specifications, construction support materials, and progress reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of consulting experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Registered or eligible for P.Eng. designation in BC within 6 months.
• Proficient in Geo Studio, PLAXIS, gINT, or similar geotechnical software tools.
• Demonstrated experience leading geotechnical work on transportation, hydroelectric, marine, or civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong project management, communication, and technical writing skills.
• Field experience including soil sampling, site investigations, and QA/QC during construction is preferred.
