Sr. Project Manager - Utilities

Location: Vancouver, BC (with projects across the Lower Mainland, Island, and Interior)

Match Box Consulting Group is confidentially and exclusively engaged to recruit a Senior Project Manager – Electrical Utilities Construction on behalf of a well-established, BC-based contractor with a long track record delivering complex public-infrastructure projects.

As Senior Project Manager, you will lead electrical utilities construction projects from pre-construction through close-out, with full accountability for safety, schedule, cost, quality, and client relationships.

Projects typically include electrical utility infrastructure such as:

• Medium and high-voltage distribution

• Utility relocations and civil interfaces

• Roadway lighting and traffic signals

• Substations and public-owner electrical works

You’ll work closely with internal operations teams, field crews, subcontractors, and public-sector clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.

• Lead electrical utilities projects to meet schedule, budget, quality, and safety targets

• Develop and manage project schedules, forecasts, and cost controls

• Oversee labour productivity, procurement, and subcontractor performance

• Identify and manage project risk, change orders, and scope adjustments

• Ensure compliance with HSE standards, contracts, and regulatory requirements

• Maintain strong working relationships with owners, consultants, and internal teams

• Prepare and review monthly cost reports, WIP, and productivity metrics

• Support estimating, commissioning, and QA/QC activities as required

• 10+ years’ experience as a Project Manager with a construction contractor

• 8+ years in utilities, infrastructure, or civil construction environments

• Strong exposure to electrical utilities or high-voltage infrastructure

• Background in one of the following:

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Civil Engineering

  • Construction Project Management

  • Red Seal Electrical Journeyperson

• Solid understanding of cost control, forecasting, scheduling, and risk management

• Comfortable working with union labour and public-sector owners

• Proficiency with MS Project and common construction management software

Assets (not required):

• P.Eng, PMP, or Gold Seal

• Experience with design-build or P3 projects

• Substation, traffic systems, or municipal utility experience

• Base salary range: $120,000 – $147,000 (commensurate with experience)
