Project Engineer in BC

Waycon Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to manage projects from initial quotation through design and manufacture. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects meet customer requirements, schedule, and quality expectations in a custom machining and fabrication environment.

Skills

Proficiency in Solid Works, AutoCAD, and project management tools.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, engineers, and production teams.

Experience with machining (horizontal and vertical milling, turning), welding, fabrication, jigs, and fixturing.

Knowledge of machining fits, material properties and selection, and heat treatment processes.

Duties

Manage projects from RFQ through delivery, ensuring scope, schedule, and technical requirements are met.

Review RFQs and prepare accurate, competitive quotations.

Design and develop custom equipment, components, and systems based on customer specifications.

Create 3D models in Solid Works and produce accurate, shop‑ready manufacturing drawings.

Coordinate with engineering, production, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure smooth project execution.

Support the shop floor during manufacturing to address technical questions and design refinements.

Education/Experience Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Minimum 7 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
