Your future role on our team
BBA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead for mine process plants to support our continued growth in Western Canada. The selected candidate will play a key role in all phases of engineering projects from front end studies through to field implementation with a focus on detailed engineering. As a senior member of the mechanical engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring technical quality, developing new business opportunities, and fostering team development.

Develop mechanical scopes of work, budgets, and proposals
Perform high-level engineering on major mechanical packages such as: crushing and grinding circuits, flotation circuits, leaching circuits, dewatering
Lead mechanical scope on conceptual design studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering
Be a key team member for small to major brownfield/greenfield mining projects
Participate in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing (site visits will typically be 3-10 days at a time up to twenty-five days a year; these numbers are negotiable during the interview process)
Provide mentorship and coaching of junior/intermediate engineers, actively sharing knowledge, and supporting the enhancement of skills within the team

Prefer a company focused on engineering over construction (BBA does detailed engineering and EPCM projects; we do not do EPC projects)
Overview of certifications and job requirements
Proven track record with strong technical skills as a Mechanical Engineer on mineral process plant projects
Ability to interpret PFDs and process design criteria from process engineering, oversee plant layouts, mechanical equipment selection, technical bid evaluation and validation, and pump sizing
University degree in Mechanical Engineering
12+ years of relevant engineering experience in the mining sector with a preference for 5+ years in consulting
Must be a registered P.Eng in Canada
Valid driver’s license
Available for site work and short-term assignments (3-10 days at a time up to twenty-five days a year)

Annual base salary, based on 37.5 hours weekly, between $130,000 to $210,000
